Do we receive RAW images?
RAW (AKA unedited) images, are essentially massive files that take up space on your computer that requires special software to open and view. We take thousands of photos for every wedding, many of which are either side of the perfect moment -- blinky, blurry, stank faces, and the moments that don’t necessarily tell the full story of your wedding day in all its beauty. Who wants to look through thousands upon thousands of photos?! US! That’s why you hire us - to take care of all that for you.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, we have general liability insurance that covers up to $2M per occurrence / $4M aggregate and all of our gear is insured. We can provide a Certificate of Insurance to your venue if needed.
Can we see a full wedding gallery?
We highly recommend viewing several full galleries to get a full feel of what you will receive of the day from beginning to end. We'll send you a selection of real weddings similar to yours after you inquire.
What is your editing process like?
All editing is done in-house by our founder Katherine. After going through the raw images three times, we then color correct and adjust tones to create a modern, timeless edit that has as film-like quality, similar to what you see on our website. We do not batch edit in large groups and mass produce the results. Every image you receive will be hand-edited, one at a time. You can expect approximately 70% of your gallery edited in color and 30% in black and white.
How long does it take to get photos back after my engagement shoot/elopement/wedding?
Your photos will be delivered within 5-6 weeks after your wedding date in a password-protected online gallery where you can download all the high-res photos and share them with family and friends. Turnaround time is 1-2 weeks for an engagement session and 2-3 weeks for and elopement.
My partner isn’t really about *photos*...is that okay? Do you give us direction?
Absolutely! If you could believe it, we’re also a little camera shy. We like to give you the right amount of direction without disrupting your natural dynamic as a couple. Think of it as art direction versus posing.
I love your candid style, but do you also take posed family photos?
We know how rare it is to have everyone you love in one room and ensure that you and your family will have all the photos you want and need. In the questionnaire we send out six weeks before the wedding day, we’ll ask for a list of all the family members you’d like photos with. We’ll set aside time on the day to do those photos in an efficient, timely manner so you all can go back to having fun and partying!
Have you shot at our venue before? Does that make a difference?
For photography, there are so many different conditions at play come wedding day -- the timeline may be running late, it might be raining, the reception room looks different (because during walkthroughs we see it as an empty room). Every wedding is different. We arrive at least 30 minutes before we start shooting to scout and get acquainted with the space and the property. We'll speak with you before the wedding to go over timeline and logistics as well. We are professionals and have shot in every type of venue from your classic ballroom to a dark industrial Brooklyn warehouse to a firelit lodge to an outdoor ceremony under the stars. We got you!
Do you help us make a timeline?
Absolutely, we’re available throughout your planning process to give timeline feedback and help you structure the logistics for photos. We strongly recommend booking a day-of or month-of coordinator if you are not working with a full planner. Our vendor list has a number of amazing talented people who will take care of you.
How much time do you need to get all pictures? I don’t want to miss my cocktail hour!
However much or little time you’d like. We’ve done an entire series of couples portraits in less than 15 minutes, or can do an epic photo shoot spanning 2 hours. We’re here to provide ideas and timeline feedback when you need. We recommend allotting at least 30-45 minutes for photos of the two of you.
I’m self conscious of my arms / belly / side profile. Do you Photoshop?
Before your wedding, we’ll discuss things that you and your fiancé may be self-conscious of -- no judgment. We’re all human and we have things we don’t love about ourselves either. We will do our very best to cater to your requests. That being said, Photoshop retouching of the body is not part of our normal editing process for the sheer amount of work involved and thereby requires an extra fee.
Do I get to pick my second shooter?
We have an amazing team of several second photographers that work with us on a regular basis and have been trained personally by Katherine. We assign them to a wedding 2-3 months in advance based on availability. Rest assured their work is up to par with those of the lead photographers and you've actually already seen much of it all over our website.
Can I add on to our package later once we have a better idea of logistics?
Yes! We actually encourage you to do so as we don’t expect you to have everything planned so far in advance. You can add on and adjust your package up to 30 days before the wedding.
Do you have packages? What are they? Can I customize?
After doing over 150+ weddings, we've learned one thing: every wedding is unique and that's why pricing should be too. Straight up, we don't want to sell you on something you don't need – we custom quote and tailor our packages to what works for you.
What if our photographer gets sick or is unavailable to photograph our wedding?
This is the benefit of having a studio of our photographers. We always have at least one photographer that we work with available for the weekend to ensure that you’ll be covered if something does happen to your lead photographer. This is all covered in the contract that we will both sign, just ask our studio director Clare and she can send you a sample.
If my wedding is out of state/ country how many days in advance do you recommend I plan for your arrival?
Our travel fee is included in all destination wedding packages. We will arrive the day before the first event we’re contracted to photograph (ie welcome dinner) for weddings in the United States that require air travel. For international weddings, we arrive at least two days in advance. Couples usually use this time as an opportunity to do a photo session of just you two before the wedding weekend begins.
What is the process if we decide to move forward?
Woohoo! To lock us in as your wedding photographers, we simply require our signed contract which can be completed easily online and a non-refundable retainer to book the date. It is a 50% deposit and the remaining balance is due 30 days before the wedding.
